Engagement with all Conflict Actors

Where direct peace talks are not yet possible, OPSC employs discreet backchannel mediation and confidence-building measures to connect with hard-to-reach actors. These engagements help reduce violence, secure surrenders, and prepare the ground for structured negotiation and reconciliation processes at local, national, and regional levels.

Crisis Response, Violence Reduction, Mediation, and Peacebuilding

We respond rapidly to emerging or escalating security challenges by encouraging voluntary disengagement from violence and creating safe avenues for dialogue. Working under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff and with over 17 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, OPSC combines mediation, negotiation, and DDRR (Disengagement, Deradicalisation, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration) to address the root causes of conflict and promote lasting stability.

Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Community Stabilisation

Our comprehensive approach supports both ex combatants and victims of conflict. We deliver psychosocial care, vocational training, and livelihood restoration while mediating between returning individuals and their communities to rebuild trust, resolve tensions, and ensure smooth reintegration.

Knowledge, Lessons, and Regional Peacebuilding Models

We capture and share insights from Nigeria’s mediation, negotiation, and DDRR experience to inform future strategies. By documenting best practices and engaging with regional and global partners, OPSC is shaping sustainable, context-specific peace models for Nigeria, the Lake Chad Basin, and beyond.
